Ideapad Slim 3 Gen 10 aka Xiaoxin 15c 2025 Review

Ideapad Slim 3 Gen 10 aka Xiaoxin 15c 2025 Review
Xiaoxin 15c 2025 Part of the Ideapad Series in Other Countries.
This unit was bought and paid for Lenovo has no prescreening or otherwise about this review.

The Lenovo Xiaoxin 15c is a China exclusive that will be comparable to the IdeaPad Slim 3 gen 10 when launched.

What makes this laptop stick out more than the ones in Canada, and the rest of the world is the aggressive marketing in their home market in Mainland China. They must contend with so many brands a few would be Xiaomi, Honour, and Many others. Other laptop makers and brands have been pushing the boundaries of their entry-level laptops by offering bigger screens performance and specs people need at a lower price point.

This unit is unique because it's not the Ideapad 3 Gen10 of the IdeaPad typically released in North America. What makes this unit stand out a lot more than the others is that by default, it offers an OLED screen 2.5k screen resolution (2560x1600) 16:10 aspect ratio with 165hz refresh rate. This seems to be like the price point released from other brands. The unique point of this is that when and if it’s released in Canada or North America, we will likely see a 1920x1200 screen resolution with both a touch and non-touch variant.

Review

Real World Testing

I tested this unit in public and private settings in situations typical for an average user. I also wrote this review on the unit!

Battery Life

It gave decent battery life when on the go from university when active on the run it worked well for daily use.

WIFI

Public

The WIFI on this laptop struggled on campus for a mesh network when resuming from standby mode and struggled to keep consistent speeds or have a stable connection when needed. Compounding the issue when testing the wifi with a hotspot it connected fine but struggled to keep speeds or connection when moving around or in a public setting like a mall, restaurant, or university campus.

Private

When testing from home it worked pretty decently struggles to keep a stable connection. Further, when testing with a provided router from the ISP it shows that there is a typical slow down or stability issues with the provided device and unit.

MediaTek and Realtek wifi chips, tend to have a lot of issues with ISP-provided routers and typically have faulty or buggy drivers. They also struggle to keep sustained performance when using obs and live streaming or other demanding applications.

Battery Life

Public

The battery life is pretty decent with my standard use I noticed I could get 10+ hours of rated battery life on the go with minimal use of the charger when on campus and on the go.

Private

The battery life wasn't draining when using it around the house or when on battery power it's decent in retrospect and such.

Disability Usage

This laptop with a bigger screen was way more beneficial when using Read and Write Gold or similar disability software. The higher screen resolution is a major benefit as you don't need to have a smaller resolution screen that takes up a lot of space when the software uses a portion of the screen.

Lenovo Factory Software

When installing the Lenovo factory image, I found theres a few oddities and querks with the software given the device is designed for mainland china. It can cause issues when roaming abroad specfically that alot of it is designed for and optimized for going though Chinese servers. This isnt bad in the same sense but given that it can block the system from proper use with certain software it's safe to say that it's best to remove any software you don't plan to use or don't understand what it is.

Bloatware?

There is very little bloat on the device and unit, theres nothing like mcafee or norton on the device. There is software from the manfactor that could be cosnidered bloat but its actually Lenovo built in anti-virus or Pc Manager software which has some features and tools.

Compatability Issues

There is some compatability issues with gaming specfically with riot vanguard and similar anti cheat softwares with the default built in software. To avoid the issues with the software causing issues its always best to reformat or disable the software to avoid the issues as certain softwares can falsely flag you for a permanent ban as cheating.

Who is this Laptop for?

This unit when compared to the price point of a sub 1000 to 1300 price point laptop exceeds what is currently offered in North America.

Conclusion

This laptop is totally worth it in long term even with the downgraded specs for the North American models it will be totally worth it when released. If you prefer this model it can be imported from Aliexpress. You can also view a full in-depth review of the unit on Tech Guy Beau Youtube Channel when it's released.
