Real World Testing

I tested this unit in public and private settings in situations typical for an average user. I also wrote this review on the unit!

WIFI

Speedtest

Intel BE 201 WIFI ISP Provided router used for testing

With the Intel BE 201 wifi card, when testing on the university campus and in public, there were few to no issues with mesh networks and public wifi spots, and when testing with hotspots, there were no problems.

Battery

From 10AM to 2:30PM Averaged for around 5 Hour Power User Use

The battery in this unit packs an 85Wh battery, which is slightly lower than normal; it does meet what is required, as these laptops typically tend to be used a lot while docked or on long-term sessions away from an office. This unit is also good if you are a student and are busy on the go.

Screen

Captured From Windows Settings
Support for Microsoft's Variable Refresh Rate

The screen installed on this ThinkBook is equipped with HDR400 Dolby Vision Certification. Support for 165Hz refresh rate, but the unit also supports DRR (Dynamic Refresh Rate) or VRR (Variable Refresh Rate)

This makes the ThinkPad a good choice for video editing and photography, and working in office documents and Excel worksheets without space being a primary issue.

Software

Graphic Design Software

I did some tests using Affinity Software and Adobe Products. What stood out

Adobe Photoshop 2025

Using the example image provided, it barely breaks a sweat when testing with AI features and general features.

Affinity Software

When testing the UI scaling with this high of a resolution, I found that there weren't any issues seen when compared to other sizes, and for load times, I found it was pretty instant without problems.

Microsoft Visual Studio

Read and Write Gold

Disability software I use for my education and daily use. It's necessary as I can't write properly on paper, I tend to use it a lot, and the screen resolution is so good compared to other laptops used.

Example of a Lower resolution to simulate the software

The screenshot below shows the difference in the user interface for read and write gold assistive technology software.

Overall, it is a massive improvement compared to the first screenshot, which shows the size relative to previous devices I use.

Windows

The operating system that came preinstalled was Windows 11 Chinese Home, available only in mainland China. I had to convert it to English for use, now configured to offer it in English, and Chinese without loss of factory resetting software or features.

Bloatware

The ThinkBook didn't come bloated with bloatware that would be atypical for North America or even Europe. It did come preinstalled with Lenovo pc manager, Lenovo Vantage equivalent, and their built-in house web browser and app store. Since I don't use software typically, I just removed them.

Benchmarks

I typically don't focus on benchmarks, as others are currently better suited for these.

Design

The design of this laptop comes equipped with:

  • 2x USB-C, one with power delivery and display port support on the other.
  • 3x USB-A ports, one hidden for USB dongles for mice that support up to 12mm adapters.
  • 1x HDMI port
  • 1x Microphone/Headphone jack combo
  • 1x IGX port for external GPU support
  • 1x SDXC Port
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Face recognition login (Windows Hello)

Intel Evo Spec Thinkbook

This laptop is designed to meet the requirements for the Intel Evo Specification. Supports fast charging via USB-C comes equipped with a 1080p resolution camera, and finally, it also got all the enterprise features required.

Conclusion

Would I recommend this device I definitely would, it's worth it for the price to performance. Even with it being exclusive to China currently, it's worth it for professional and business use.
